Filleting room completed!

Our filleting room will become a meeting place for fishermen and fish lovers. With just 12 more days to go, our crowdfunding campaign is up for a thrilling final sprint. The crowdfunding is aimed at a minimum of €40.000,- and has already reached almost 90% of that! But we will only get the money if we reach at least the 100%.

Now is the time for you to buy an exciting fishing tour or tasty workshop and become part of our wonderful new ‘mini-university’ for fish processing and stories of the sea. Also donations, big and small, are welcome.

Fresh Fish!

We’ll send you a voucher for a great package of fresh fish fillets. Which fish depends on the catches at the moment of delivery, for example plaice, cod, hake, gurnard, … It will be around 3 kinds of fish, 1 kg per kind. On the voucher you will also find information about the filleting room which you help to realise. The fish will be cut and vacuum packed in the filleting room. It will be obtainable in Lauwersoog, Amsterdam or Utrecht from june 2015.

Royale de Luxe

We’ll send you a voucher for a great package of deluxe fresh fish fillets. Which fish depends on the catches at the moment of delivery, but think of wild sea bass, turbot, brill … It will be around 3 kinds of fish, 1 kg per kind. On the voucher you will also find information about the filleting room which you help to realise. The fish will be cut and vacuum packed in the filleting room. It will be obtainable in Lauwersoog, Amsterdam or Utrecht from june 2015.

Who cannot choose between the different workshops we have on offer can just leave it up to us. We will consult you about your wishes and come with a proposal which suits you and us.  The workshops will be available from may 2015.

Filleting course

Who chooses this voucher (or receives it as a gift) can spend a full day in the filleting room, learn all about the fish and practice a lot. The day starts from 10.00 till 17.00. The day includes coffee, tea, water and the use of our BBQ’s for a nice fresh fish lunch with your self cut fish. At the end of the day you can portion and vacuum pack your fish and take it home. We’ll work with no more than 14 persons per group. On the voucher you will also find information about the filleting room which you help to realise. The workshops will be available from may 2015.

Crab adventure

This is the perfect voucher for culinary adventurers. At low tide we’ll take the mud sledge to the fykes and get the catch out. There will surely be shorecrabs, but also other types of fish. Together we’llk sort out the catch and set the young fish free. Back at ‘tAiland we’ll kill off the crabs as quickly as possible in an extremely hot oven, after which we’ll make a nice bisque of it with organic vegetables from the region. The bisque will be put in jars for the attendants to take home. Also the recipe can be taken home, to repeat it in your own kitchen with langoustines for example. The day includes coffee, tea, water and a nice self made fresh fish lunch. On the voucher you will also find information about the filleting room which you help to realise. This crab adventure will be available from may 2015.

Seaweed workshop

Seaweed is a seafood of the future. It’s rich with important nutrients like proteins and omega-3. And there’s lots of it growing in the Waddensea. The amounts of seasalad and other weeds that fishermen can catch is almost endless. It’s too bad that it is hardly used. But it is perishable and few people know what to do with it. During this workshop we will dry seaweed, make tapenades and experiment with things like a summery popato hotchpotch or seaweed biscuits. The results can be taken home, together with the recipes. The day includes coffee, tea, water and a nice self made fresh fish lunch. On the voucher you will also find information about the filleting room which you help to realise. This seaweed workshop will be available from june till september.

Wadden Fish Tour For 2 persons!

Go for an adventure on the Waddensea with fishermen Jan and Barbara. Look out for mullets, sebass and flounder and try to catch them in the gill nets. Or at low tide gather oysters, musels and cockles. Meanwhile you’ll enjoy the Waddensea, the beautiful landscape, the birds and the seals. At the end of the day we will dine with whatever we caught. On the voucher you will also find information about the filleting room which you help to realise. The Wadden Fish Tours will be available in july and august 2015.

Getting totally fishy For 2 persons and 1 kid free.

This is the real thing. Three days and two nights on board of TS31 Internos, experiencing the real traditional Waddenfishery as it is. Working, sleeping and eating at the rythm of the tide. See how the Wad changes from high tide to low tide, from dusk till dawn. Learn about the craftmanship of traditional Waddenfishers and how they continuously have to adapt to changing circumstances. There is space for a maximum of 2 x 2 adults at a time (1 hut per couple). One voucher is good for one 2person-hut and a maximum of one child in the hut. If there’s two children coming along we can make space or them in the hold. On the voucher you will also find information about the filleting room which you help to realise. The 3day-tours will be available from may till september 2015.

Groupworkshop

With a maximum of 12 persons a full day working with fish, crustaceans, seaweeds and/or shellfish in the filleting room. You can choose the program as you wish: filleting fish, processing seaweed, empty fykes and making crab bisque, or a tailor made program with also smoking fish. The day includes coffee, tea, water and the use of our BBQ’s for a nice fresh fish lunch with your self cut fish. At the end of the day you can take the products home. A wonderful day out with family, the neighbours, colleagues or friends. The group workshops are available from may 2015.
